Each visit begins at our century old reclaimed barn that still remains in service as our tasting room. Here you’ll be greeted with a glass of estate rosé to liven the spirit and prime the palate. A personal sommelier will then lead you through one of our carefully curated wine tasting experiences designed to educate guests about Burgundian grape varieties, farming techniques and the terroir that makes Pence unique.

Estate Tasting Experience
1.5 Hours | $50 Per Guest
The Estate Tasting is an introduction to the Pence Vineyards wines, highlighting the vineyard both as a whole and as the sum of its parts. The wines selected are typically blended from various vineyard blocks, demonstrating how balance is achieved by marrying wine lots that express different aspects of the estate. A knowledgeable Pence sommelier guides visitors through this 60- to 90-minute experience.
Penny Tasting Experience
1.5 Hours | $75 Per Guest
The Penny tasting is a block-by-block exploration of Pence Vineyards and the influence of microclimate, soil type, sun aspect, and clonal selection as these are expressed in our block-designate wines. It begins with a private tour of the vineyard, guided by a personal sommelier, that puts guests’ feet on the ground where the wines are grown. The tour is followed by a curated tasting of our exclusive single-block, Penny label wines, an immersive 90-minute experience that provides a real understanding of what makes Pence so unique.
Library Tasting Experience
2 Hours | $100 Per Guest
The Library tasting is a deep dive into the ageability of Pence wines, stemming from our Santa Rita Hills climate, unique terroir, and Burgundian-based farming and vinification processes. Complex wines have the capability to age for decades. Guided by a senior personal sommelier and educator, guests investigate the ways wines develop aromatically and texturally over time, comparing selections aged from four to ten years in bottle. Customizable to concentrate on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir or a mix of both, this 2-hour tasting takes place in our private Heritage Room and includes a vineyard tour.
Terroir Tasting Experience
2 Hours | $150 Per Guest
The Terroir tasting is our most comprehensive experience on the Pence Estate. There is no better way to experience the land than being immersed directly in our 42 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Starting out with a splash of Rose, you’ll accompany your personal Somm to begin your intimate exploration of our vineyard estate. Amongst the vines, you’ll learn further about our farming philosophies, sustainable practices and goals as a vigneron. This is a 2-hour experience that concludes back at our Heritage Room to experience membership exclusive wines.
